Felix Gillet Foundation
Amigo Bob founded this organization to preserve the fruit trees that were brought over from Europe during the CA Gold Rush. The trees have survived in the wild for over 150 years. They are varieties that can sustain extreme draught and the Foundation is propagating these varieties so people can plant these tree varieties that don’t use a lot of water.
This charity is very important to Amigo, because he not only founded the organization, but he is very passionate about preserving varieties that have not been hybridized for shelf life and size and appearance and sacrificing taste and water usage.
They keep finding trees in the area to this day. It is amazing how they have survived not only draughts but insect infestation and man made interference.
